REGIONAL SECESSION: COULD WE POSSIBLY SEE A SEPARATION OF THE STATES

“We want what we want; you have what you want.”

The idea of The Southern states seceding from the union has popped its head up once again. There have been sentiment from the southern states about a possible hearing regarding the states removing themselves from the rest of the country. Now, will any of this take place? My best guess is no it won’t. But that’s not the main problem. The problem is that there are quit a few people behind the push. There were even similar conversations on the west coast in California because Donald Trump won the presidency. But how does this fair out in the country regarding our togetherness as a nation?  How does this look to the rest of the world?

Well, if we’re such a divided nation, God forbid an actually conflict breaks out and we have to fight. Who will be willing to put aside these petty ways for the betterment of the nation. Or will we falter from all the constant bickering. And regarding how this looks to the rest of the world; will this have an affect on who is willing to start conflict with this nation. How do we know a country won’t try to pin regions against each other by giving states rights in the case that they win the war. Sounds crazy, but so does people getting together to resurrect a party that was crushed already.

These sentiments have been appearing as well because a lot of the Confederate monuments dedicated to the leaders of the former party have been removed from sites throughout the south. And with that has come a barrage of disdain from far right groups. Groups who feel that the South shall reclaim the region as a,”White Man and Woman region.” But this is nothing new, people in the South have always had a difference of opinion, as far as the country concerns, for decades. So could it happen? Could we possibly see a break in how the country is set up? We weren’t always one big nation. A lot of land belonged to Mexico prior to the Declaration of Independence.

And that is yet another issue people in the South have regarding the wanting to secede.  The idea that Mexicans have been crossing into the United States, have risen the theory that maybe they eventually want to reclaim what was once theirs. And that thought process has come from years of disdain as well. People have ignored this sentiment, and now that it’s more problematic, everyone is concerned. But now where do you go from here? unemployment is still high in the country, no real major growth in this nation, and socially we are breaking down. What is to come of America from here on out? Only time will tell; for now, it is a waiting game.

ADDICTED: ARE YOU A JUNKIE AND DON’T EVEN KNOW IT?

Image result for ADDICT

“What is yours?”

The definition of an addict is someone who is compulsive in their need for reward, substance, or activity where the compulsive behavior leads to negative consequences. We often connect an addiction with someone that is on drugs or alcohol. But how often do we hear about people who have other addictions to things such as sex, food, work, and shopping. Most people don’t want to talk about these other issues because they are quite odd to be addicted to in life. Who wants to admit they’re addicted to food, sex, their jobs, or even buying tangibles. Well, no one, but how? How are these addictions which to the average person are normal behaviors.

Let’s start with sex for example. Sex is one of the most, if not the most natural action among humans. This is the way humans procreate as a species. So when does this natural act become an addiction. It becomes an addiction when it leads to consequences that are harmful to you or others around you. For instance, when you find yourself constantly either cheating on your significant other or exposing yourself to sexually transmitted diseases then it’s an addiction. Another form of sexual addiction is more common and that’s through the use of pornography. It causes people to be desensitized by a real sexual experience. The levels of sensitivities are so high that men, for example find it difficult to maintain erections. Women have their own dysfunctions, for example sex toys desensitize the clitoris making normal sex unsatisfying.

Yet, this isn’t the only addiction outside of drugs and alcohol. Food is an even bigger addiction than sex, drugs, and alcohol. Especially in America, we eat so much that we develop predisposed food illnesses. Illnesses that lead to depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and obesity. We need food for our survival, so there’s no wonder why a food addiction is so hard to kick. And when you come from a family that overindulges then you’ll find it even harder not to eat a lot. Not to mention that certain ethnics groups typically consume greater portions than others. So with something so natural, this also comes as no surprise why it as well is so hard to kick.

Now, with the prior addictions taking hold of so many people’s lives, could there possibly be any other addictions. What about your career; could this become an addiction? Absolutely, that’s where the term workaholic comes from. Especially in today’s society, we work so much that we disconnect from friends and family. Kids more than ever come home after school to an empty house because of overworking parents. We as adults neglect the people around us and fail to realize this until it’s too late. People close to us pass away, and move away. Your kids grow up and you miss out on so much that you regret later on. So make time for them now.

But is that all? Is there more addictions in life? There are, shopping is another addiction. You go how, well when you are purchasing to the point where you can’t sustain financially, then you’re out of control. People shop to be accepted into a social group or even to cover up an emotional wound. Buying new clothes give you this new feeling, even if it is minimal. We think that by buying these items that good feeling will last, but it doesn’t; it never does. In the end, addiction is a hard illness to cope with; especially if the problem is a natural overindulgence. Seeking help is tough, yet necessary when kicking any habit.

WALLS: THE DANGER OF ISOLATION

Image result for WALL MEXICO

“Who is isolation more dangerous for, you or me?”

Over the past year leading up to the United States presidential election, we have heard the topic of a wall being built between the USA and the Mexican border. No one else has talked more about this particular topic than president elect Donald Trump. Though through all the scrutiny and controversy, Trump managed to win the election. Now the topic of the wall being built along the border has been talked about more now than any other time. Even the former president of Mexico Vicente Fox commented on Trump’s plans for the border. Fox stated that Mexico won’t be building such a wall and if one is built it will come at the expense of taxpayers in America.

Now the question that I ask is that from a political viewpoint we have to protect the U.S. My only question now is if building walls are good for a nation or are they bad for a nation. Every decision you make could be viewed as good or bad. But with any one you choose, you have to take the other side as well. Meaning, you can’t have all good and no bad. You can’t think that everything will be glorious afterward. So what are the positives and negatives of having a wall to separate you if possible. Well let’s take a look at that question.

What are the positives of building a wall? For starters, you can better protect a nation. You are able to keep tabs on who is entering a country and when. When the September 11th attacks that claimed the lives of a few thousand took place, the hijackers managed to enter the country through student visas. Now that’s not the wall that Trump is referring to, but he also made a statement about keeping tabs on people coming from the Middle East as well. Looking at this from a social aspect it can cause tension, but politically it makes sense. If the majority of the people causing problems are arising from individuals coming in from that same part of the world, it’s rational to keep tabs. In addition to the wall in Mexico, the narcotics problem that has for a long time been an issue in America is now more under control. So when you look at the plan from a rational standpoint it makes perfect; Trump’s plan.

As with the good, is also the negative feedback. What are the repercussions from building a wall? One of the issues is that Americans consume a lot of resources. As a matter of fact, so much so, we are forced to go outside the country. Scientifically, if every person in the world ate like Americans it would take three planets to feed the world. And where are two of those places we consume resources from; you got it, the two places Trump has attacked the most. Our oil for uses in mass transportation in the Middle East and the production of automobiles & vegetation/crops in Mexico. Now, everyone is emotional from the election, Trump himself can’t make emotional decisions.

When you do live in a country where your citizens consume so much, but want boundaries on nations, you must be careful the way you communicate with outside nations you need. It could effect mass production on a global scale and ultimately hurt your country. Another reason why walls are bad ties into the resources. Isolation is dangerous to the person or people who isolate themselves. Understand that the world has resources, America can’t sustain alone. So this country need the planet, not the planet needing America.

So in the end, there is always a good and bad with any decision you make. Especially a decision that would require isolation. The good is you know who is in your country, but the bad is that you isolate and hurt yourself. But whatever the case may be, Trump has a pretty tough job for himself moving forward with the building of a wall. Is it good or bad, I don’t know , only time will tell if it does.
