CLOSED EARS, CLOSED MIND: WHY HAVING MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVE IS RATIONAL

macro, outdoors, perspective

“My view is view.”

Over the past year, we have had all been in debates, for the most part surrounding the election of President Donald Trump. But the problem is not just the constant debating, it’s also the fact that no one listens to multiple sides. For me at least, I watch not only CNN, but I also watch Fox News. I want to gain insight into both areas of politics, then make my decision somewhere in the middle. Or I make my decision based on who won that particular argument of the day. But you have so many people who look at life through this one lens, which is more harmful to themselves than to anyone else. If your life revolves around the people that think and talk like you, then you’re missing out. Missing out on what could actually make you a greater you. You probably are thinking to yourself, how so?

Well, for starters, if you have a multiple perspective, then you can gain a more worldly view. Meaning you are able to connect to those that are different than yourself. But you are also able to understand where someone is coming from. You still might not agree, but you know why they feel the way that they do. You could be a Democrat and I a Republican; yet if we are listening to each other, you can accomplish more. Because a successful civilization is not one that is perfect, but more so, one that is stable and optimal. We don’t need everyone agreeing on everything, but when no one is listening, then you start to lose rationale. And once rationale is lost, you can forget about trying to fix any problem you thought you were going to fix. Why, well at that point it is just straight emotion. Straight emotion never gets you anywhere in life. And how so?

Emotions are something of course we all have; I’m not enlightening you on anything when I say that. But the problem is that when we become too passionate about why we feel a certain way, we lose hold of practicality. So then we start making judgments when some of the very people we support fall under that category. And the reason we don’t see it is because we start to believe in our own bullshit so much so we don’t hear anyone else talking. And with shut ears and open hearts, you lose your argument. Also, this extra passion is a sign that you don’t have enough passion in your own life. Because it’s fine to be passionate, but too many people have too much passion to spare. And if you’re getting enough passion in your personal life, you shouldn’t have too too much to spare. Meaning, more passion in your personal life, you are more balanced out in your practical conversations with other people, not 100% guaranteed, yet still valid enough.

In the end, people have to block out multiple perspectives because you might hear something from the other side that forces you to give up your points. And no one wants to bend under any circumstance. Yet if all you do is shut out others’ thoughts and opinions, you’ll find yourself being taken down a rabbit hole the moment someone on your side breaks the rules. Now you have to think on a fly as to how to get out of the argument and defend your person. When all you had to do was open your mind, and you can keep yourself from being led down a lot of paths.

REGIONAL SECESSION: COULD WE POSSIBLY SEE A SEPARATION OF THE STATES

“We want what we want; you have what you want.”

The idea of The Southern states seceding from the union has popped its head up once again. There have been sentiment from the southern states about a possible hearing regarding the states removing themselves from the rest of the country. Now, will any of this take place? My best guess is no it won’t. But that’s not the main problem. The problem is that there are quit a few people behind the push. There were even similar conversations on the west coast in California because Donald Trump won the presidency. But how does this fair out in the country regarding our togetherness as a nation?  How does this look to the rest of the world?

Well, if we’re such a divided nation, God forbid an actually conflict breaks out and we have to fight. Who will be willing to put aside these petty ways for the betterment of the nation. Or will we falter from all the constant bickering. And regarding how this looks to the rest of the world; will this have an affect on who is willing to start conflict with this nation. How do we know a country won’t try to pin regions against each other by giving states rights in the case that they win the war. Sounds crazy, but so does people getting together to resurrect a party that was crushed already.

These sentiments have been appearing as well because a lot of the Confederate monuments dedicated to the leaders of the former party have been removed from sites throughout the south. And with that has come a barrage of disdain from far right groups. Groups who feel that the South shall reclaim the region as a,”White Man and Woman region.” But this is nothing new, people in the South have always had a difference of opinion, as far as the country concerns, for decades. So could it happen? Could we possibly see a break in how the country is set up? We weren’t always one big nation. A lot of land belonged to Mexico prior to the Declaration of Independence.

And that is yet another issue people in the South have regarding the wanting to secede.  The idea that Mexicans have been crossing into the United States, have risen the theory that maybe they eventually want to reclaim what was once theirs. And that thought process has come from years of disdain as well. People have ignored this sentiment, and now that it’s more problematic, everyone is concerned. But now where do you go from here? unemployment is still high in the country, no real major growth in this nation, and socially we are breaking down. What is to come of America from here on out? Only time will tell; for now, it is a waiting game.

ACCEPTANCE VERSUS TOLERANCE: HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE RESPECTED

Related image

“I want love by choice not force.”

In America today, more than ever we are stressing the tolerance of other groups of people. People who you may not agree with, yet you leave them to their own devices to be them. Me on the other hand, I have a different view of the topic at hand. Me myself, I would rather be accepted than to be tolerated in America. What is the difference between being accepted and tolerated? To accept someone is to celebrate them in all they have to give. To tolerate someone is to only accept them by means of force. We push people to have tolerance while acceptance is more pure. Why is this so important today?

Because with the introduction of our new Commander and Chief Donald J. Trump, people feel like he’s very insensitive to certain ethnic groups. Mainly people in the Middle Eastern communities and Hispanics. But when I hear people say that they tolerate a group of people it’s still similar to saying you’re not fond of a group of people. Now, let’s not get that confused with hate. Notice I said it is similar, but not the same. And I say similar Woman in Blue Hijabbecause the similar reasons he disagrees with a group is the similar reasons why people tolerate a group. For example, he says we need to vet countries where radical Islamic extremists are coming from entering the United States. Then people say I disagree with how Islam treats it’s women, yet I tolerate their culture.

You’re similar in that your feelings toward them are strong, maybe not on his level, but it’s there. It’s harder to say you accept Islam because you do disagree with some of its principles. Yet no one wants to think they agree with him on any level. But let’s be clear, is it people who accept and or tolerate communities that they gentrify. No, the goal is to remove those living their and make way for their families. This is on par with the same racial sentiment you’re accusing the president of conducting himself in, in our country. See, I have a different perspective on the whole acceptance versus tolerance belief. Like I said before, I would much rather be celebrated because it’s pure.

Now here is something interesting I can share with you regarding the acceptance. People treat you in the manner in which not only you carry yourself, but how you think someone else sees you. So you are hurt when not accepted because you’ve based your identity off of someone who ultimately does not respect you. And if you’re seeking validation from someone that does not respect you, they’ll see it and use it against you. Still, people fight for the tolerance. Then again, is all tolerance bad? Am I looking at this tolerance word with too much conviction? Let’s analyze the other side.

Tolerance is me not accepting something you say or do, a practice you are conducting yourself in, but I can still respect you enough to not hate you. Meaning, I believe you can be tolerant to gay marriage, yet not hate gays. I don’t believe you should have the choice in them getting married and I Image result for rainbow flagdon’t condone violence against someone living how they choose to live. But I don’t think we should live in a society where are forced to agree. And as long as we can disagree and continue, there is nothing wrong with opposing. Now, with that viewpoint you won’t reach everyone, but as long as people know where you stand, that is key.

In the end, knowing where people stand is the tough part. We live in a country where everyone says the right thing. And a lot of that comes from fear of losing something. So we are becoming a nation where we teach each other how to lie to one another. I don’t want you to lie about how you feel toward me. And if you don’t like something, express your right to not be involved in what the person is doing. Because using means of force will only result in more conflict and further alienation.
