CONSOLIDATION: SHOULD THE U.S. JOIN TOWNS AND MAKE BIGGER CITIES

Image result for small town america

“Too small to stabilize.”

New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C. These are just a few of our more well-known major U.S. cities across the country. But for the most part, America is comprised of a lot of small cities and towns. Places you have never heard of, yet Tree in Front of Establishmentthey sustain themselves. But is it time we start to consolidate some of these really small places. I am not talking about a city of 100,000 plus citizens. I’m more so referring to towns and cities with 5,000; 15,000; and 20,000 citizens. We should now make the leap and start bringing these place together. Instead of five towns around each other that have populations of 15,000; 10,000; 20,000; 12,000; and 25,000; we build one city of  82,000.

Why might even add a few more towns around these other 5 places and create another major city. Since coming into office, President Trump has been slow to really get into the employment situation in America. He made a pledge to bring back American jobs. But the reason why that would be a difficult feat is because we have too many of these small cities and towns. Trying to build infrastructure around a city of 25,000 is impossible. To be honest, anything below 100,000 becomes a difficult task. Now, if you’re from one of these places, you might take this as an insult. But you have to understand how an infrastructure where jobs are created manages to sustain. New York City where I live, for example, is a perfect place to build.

The city is roughly 12 million inhabitants, 65 – 70 million tourists, and potential for so much real estate development. So if you have enough capital, you can build a architecture, buildings, citylot in this city. But the city where I grew up is only 78,000 people. And the problem with a lot of these small places is that they were once manufacturing towns. Now, there is potential to turn the city where I am from into a distribution center. There are so many open factory spaces that are vacant. These buildings can be converted into space to house inventory. Thus turning the city into a distribution hub. But when you’re talking about building or bringing together these types of plans, you run into some problems. And no, I don’t mean actually building, I mean the people.

A lot of people from these small places are resistant to the change. They want life to stay the same, and this is just impossible. With improvements in science and technology, a lot of these small unknown towns/cities will be ghost towns. With an aging population and young people headed to metropolitan cities, these towns will eventually die. I was looking on the internet earlier this morning where you could buy a town for sale for some places as low as the price of average American home. These once booming industrialized towns are now backdrops for what could be a wild west movie. And in the end, these places that once served communities in building a life for oneself is no longer the case. Some of these towns/cities were started the same time as our major cities, But as the metropolitan cities grew, these small places failed to innovate and were left behind.

A NATION IN LIMBO: HOW SATISFIED ARE YOU WITH THE PRESIDENCY IN AMERICA SO FAR

Image result for donald trump president

“Only 15% into the term, yet so many problems.”

Since the presidential inauguration of Donald J. Trump as our Commander in Chief, there has been constant controversy around his presidency. From the comments he’s made that were deemed insensitive, to the link between him and Russia in an alleged tampering with the election. Now, there is even more controversy, this time circling the appointment of the new Communications Image result for trump inaugurationDirector Anthony Scaramucci. The former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer recently stepped down amidst the bringing in of Scaramucci. But it hasn’t been a full two weeks and Scaramucci has already stepped down already himself. The first story came out regarding his filing for divorce, then him stepping down. So now my question is, what will happen next in this administration?

While all this controversy is going on, we still have a nation with high unemployment, and people are becoming frustrated. Yet if Trump can’t shake the Russian controversy, fix the healthcare bill, nor maintain the travel ban, how will he fix employment. He made a statement regarding employment that he would levy tax on corporations shipping jobs overseas of 35% if they weren’t bent on Image result for american unemploymentreturning those jobs home. But with the world moving more in an automated direction, there is no purpose to preserve the industrialization of America. And I don’t know why the United States is stuck on factories anyways. This isn’t the 1900’s, we are in a more tech savvy environment. We need more engineers, managers, operational people, information driven people, and marketers.

But the American population, especially people in select regions don’t want to hear any of it. And a lot of these places for years heavily depended on the factories for a living. Only problem is that there are cheaper methods of building in our world today. And in order for America to stay competitive in the market, we can’t Image result for american factoriesgo back. Still, Trump supporters would say that this is just more liberal bull. That America can bring jobs back. But anyone that knows even a basic understanding
of the market knows this is false. For example, the priceless metals in our cell phone is in countries not indigenous to America. So if America bring factories here making cell phones, then labor drives prices up. Two things would happen: 1) Americans would have to spend more for items that they already struggle paying for now; 2) other countries can outbid America for raw materials.

So what do you do when China wants to make a cell phone. They charge few dollars and hour for labor. Since they do so, they can charges pennies and still Related imagemake a profit to stay in business. It takes $30, $40, and even $50 per hour to raise a family. Can you imagine how much a company wold have to charge for cell phone to recoup what’s lost for American made products just because of labor. So now you’re talking an iPhone made in America would skyrocket. Trust and believe people are buying the Chinese bought product. Because a large part comes down to labor; labor is just cheaper outside of America. Meaning America will have to change from an industrialized to an informational country. We have always been ahead of the curve for so long, and going backward won’t help.

In the end, Trump has made some pretty serious promises. But the biggest is not the healthcare, nor is it the borders. Trying to force company’s hands over jobs is going to be impossible. Because if the government won’t listen to him on the travel ban, then he’s not getting through with the 35% tax on companies. So now it’s a waiting game. People’s fingers are crossed, hoping for something, anything to happen.

AGE OF DEPRESSION: HOW THE MORE WE UNDERSTAND SELF THE MORE UNHAPPY WE BECOME

black-and-white, depressed, depression

“In an era of technology, we are more connected, yet very much detached.”

In a world where we are more connected than anytime before, you would think it would make us happier. Yet it has not only made us happier, but the more we learn and understand ourselves the more depressed we become. And I don’t mean know ourselves like knowing me as an adult. I mean knowing us is it pertains to our existence on Earth. You would think with the advent of technological innovation and scientific breakthroughs, we would have a much higher level of enlightenment that would make us happy. But what that heightened awareness has done is give us the complete opposite effect. But should we digress because of this unintended effect?

View of Tourist Resort Well, let’s first look at what makes us depressed in today’s society. There are many different reasons why people tend to be unhappy. For starters, you are able to see up close your reality. And what I mean by your reality, you can see where you stand financially, socially, academically in the world. For example, you can Google image luxury, and see a world that is beyond your world just by typing it into a search engine. When my mother was young, an opulent life existed, yet you didn’t quite know about it. Clear Wine Glasses in a RowPeople were either born into wealth, or it was something you stumbled upon. Not today, today, you can actually see how little you have relative to someone else. And what’s crazy, you might have a socioeconomic position that is supporting you and your family. Yet you can’t enjoy because you are comparing yourself to someone way above you.

Why do we do it? Why do we look to someone that is far beyond us? Well, at times, that person is our age. No matter your age today, there is someone that age doing something on a more monumental scale than yourself. When I was in college, I was broke coming out, yet guys my age were signing multi-million dollar contracts to play sports. Comparing yourself to them and not appreciating what you have, even when what you have is adequate to live, robs you of gratification Image result for comparison peopleand the ability to live a fulfilling life. Meaning, you might want to make $50,000 in a year, but someone tells you, you should want better. Now you can’t enjoy what life you could have had with what you wanted because you’re chasing something you may not even want just to satisfy other people’s perspective. And with our lives being inundated with so much imagery, we still have another aspect of our lives that make us unhappy: our own existence.

Coping with our existence is tough for so many. And I don’t mean existence in the context of waking and going to work everyday, coming home, and sleeping. I mean the fact that we are here, on Earth, living and breathing. The fact that I was not born a lion, tiger, bird, or a house cat, but a human is hard for many to cope with in life. The simple existence that is me, a carbon based life form that has Related imagetaken forever to evolve into what I am, is hard to accept. And a lot of it comes from increased scientific understanding of ourselves. Here is where religion may have aided us in living on this planet. With the idea that there is something greater once we die, it gives us hope. As time progress in society, more and more people are becoming awoken to our existence. So awake, we are unmotivated to do anything. So now we become depressed with the idea that this is all that is here for us.

You would think that feeling this way would give people a sense of urgency, yet it’s having the inverse effects. The closer we come to figuring out why we are on Earth, the more we become detached from living. Maybe not knowing, is what’s best at times. Because in the end, unlike any other species where nature dictates how they behave, we are given conscious. We are given the ability to say yes or say no. We are endowed with the ability to make sound decisions. And that very conscious that gives us that ability also makes us aware of our situations in life. Some people make the best out of it, and others can never cope. And for those that can’t cope, it leads to further depression; leading to substance abuse or even suicide.

“He who increases knowledge, increases sorrow on the land.”

GENERATION FAST TRACK: HOW THIS NEW SOCIAL MEDIA ERA IS RUINING A GENERATION’S DRIVE

Related image

“In a fast paced world, with long term success.”

Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tinder, and way more. We are the generation that is used to instant gratification. You type it, it pops up in less than a few seconds. And if we just so happen to get a 15 second commercial clip we get antsy. And this behavior has to do with so Image result for social mediamuch moving so fast in today’s society. But when it comes to other areas of life, time seems to stand still. And there are two areas of interest where you don’t receive instant gratification: building a successful career and maintaining a successful monogamous relationship. These are two of the most important aspects of adulthood, and two of the hardest to tackle.

Yet, we struggle so much with the idea of having to build so long. Why does it take so long to build a career? For starters, initially, you’re building experience in the field of interest. Our generation wants someone to show us, kind of like working at a fast food restaurant. Then once we learn, we can start making Related imagethe big bucks. But it doesn’t quite work like that; you need more time. So you might think, what time, 6 months, 1 year? No, you should probably take close to 10 years of learning. And that’s when the onset of stress and depression set in. So much of your life is about in the now, that you hear 10 years and say to yourself, forget it. But 10 years is nothing when trying to build a career. As a matter of fact, I’m actually being nice when I say 10 years.

Nice! Yes, nice; it’s more like 15 to 20 years, maybe even close to 20. That’s why it’s best to start young and build. This way, hopefully, you’re still young by the time your career takes off. Then again, when you see someone young doing the things you want to do, you get discouraged. But you don’t know when they started. They could have started at age 19 years old, and are now Image result for GROWTH30/31 years old. We tend to look at the now, and say what you could have been. Don’t regret, you’re still young at 30 yourself, and you will be at 40 years of age. But so many see those who are what they could have been had they have started early. But now, they resent not working at what they want. Big mistake, you’re still young, start now.

But even with all I have written, what about relationships. With so many apps geared toward meeting someone and hoping up in just a matter of hours, no wonder good relationship are so hard to come by. How do we maintain a relationship when so much is based around a quick one hour encounter. But then you look at people who have been married for 25, 30, Related image40, 50, and some more years. And you ask yourself, “How did they make it that far?” Well, they made it that far because there was no rush when they first met. There was trial and error where people learned along the way. Now, there is no trial and error; if you screw up, you’re gone. Why, well there are more options today.

If the generations before us thought the way we do about relationships, I could only imagine what the state of relationships would look like today. There was a courting process in the past that involved not only you getting to know your partner, but the family you were marrying into. Now, it’s meet you today, sleep with you tomorrow, meet your family next week, marry a few months later, and then divorce five years after. Everything is so fast, yet Image result for goalswe want things to last long.We are way too impulsive in our society today. There is little thought that goes into our decisions that have long term effects. And in the end, the long term effects are what I am worried about. Will we wind-up hurting ourselves in the end? Will a generation become depressed and less driven because they are ill-prepared for the real world? Hopefully this is fear, and it dissipates as time goes on.

THE GREAT DIVIDE: WHY AMERICA IS SEEING A SEPARATION OF REGIONS

Related image

“We’re the Flintstones! Meet George Jetson!”

Since President Trump’s presidential election, we have noticed a great divide among regions in the United States. There is the massive region of the country where ever you come from: Midwest, The South, Northeast, and West. Then there is the major metropolitan places where people live as well versus the small cities and rural towns. And it has become the battle of those that want to move forward, versus those that want things to go back in history. The problem is, is that we have always progressed forward as a human species. And technological advancement has pushed that initiative. So you can’t go back once technology takes hold because it makes life more effective. Well, what has caused the disconnect?

A lot of changes have been to the fact that jobs are not in the form that once were in America. For the greater part of the past 100 years, the
industrialization of America kept this country going strong. But with the car, car door, factoryadvent of technological innovation, it has placed so much of the industrialization on the back burner. Mass production of goods have
become cost effective and more efficient through the use of more complex machinery than manpower. Why pay hundreds of workers $25 plus an hour, when you can hire one or two engineers to keep the machine on point. In a business sense, there is more money to be made, with less input. But this is nothing new to society.

People are angry, yet we have always shifted the way business is conducted agriculture, children, cropdue to technology. The cotton gin instead of manpower, the combine, instead of mule pullers. We never look at previous people and say, “Let’s go back to that; ” we want what we want. But to get what we want, someone else was hurt for us to get it. We don’t care, just build something for Green Tractorme in the now. I don’t care if a mule puller could not keep up with the combine. Then you shouldn’t care if the combine can’t keep up with the latest form of technology. You have to learn to shift with this new global marketplace, or get left behind.

Yet, it’s not just the job situation that has people divided. What about the introduction of so many new immigrants? Immigrants are better suited to sustain in this country because they are less politically driven. Meaning, they teach their kids more so about prospering while we all wait for a political leader. People are waiting for Trump, whose not going to do it; Related imageHilary, who wasn’t going to do it for them. Meanwhile, immigrants are wining in the medical field, engineering, education, law, etc. They are not waiting for someone else to make their lives better. They are staking their own claim, while people who have been here in this country hold their breathe and wait. Wait for something, that actually won’t formulate no matter who is president.

And where is a lot of the push back coming from to not move toward a more technologically advanced society: small cities and rural towns. Then you have the flip side, those who are hoping advancements such as AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) takes hold: large metropolitan cities. The more advancements will always win simply because you have to Bird's Eye View of Intersection and Overpasses during Daytimecompete globally. And you ask why? Well because, raw materials used to produce anything we need in society will become easier for people outside of us to purchase if we go backward. And our infrastructure will fail. For example, if I am in the business of steel, and can sell steel to China with more profit than the United States, we lose are ability to produce anything that requires steel. And if we do purchase, we get into bidding wars with other countries.

You see, in the end, it even Trump’s plan of bringing jobs back from overseas. It’s not possible, not because it’s not physically possible. It’s not possible because it would require spending more on products to be made here than if they are made overseas. Meaning more money out the pockets of people already struggling with current prices. Meaning, if I am China, India, Russia, or any other country looking to gain an advantage over America, I can now really compete in industry against the U.S.A. Further 4th of july, america, flagmeaning, offering that the same product you want in America cheaper overseas, and maybe even better quality. Meaning, if I only have $20 to spend, and something cost $25 here, but that exact product is $5 outside America, I’m buying $5. And spend that other $15 on something else. Global economies are so broken down, so complex, even Trump’s allies would shoot it down. Meaning, adjusting to new forms of business because society is not going back.

AUGMENTED REALITY: HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Image result for augmented reality

“In a world that is beyond our world.”

Technological innovation has been pushing the bar for decades. Yet as we look back at what was supposed to be the hot items, they are so generic looking now. Especially compared to the great products that are hitting the market in today’s society. We look at the past and say to ourselves, “Wow, that looks Grey Vintage Crt Tvawful.” “I remember when that was the in product that everyone wanted.” But it’s not an awful product, it’s just that the innovation to technology has made such leaps and bounds. I look at televisions in just my lifetime. The picture quality of a television in the past for what I thought was incredible, looks dated now. So what does the future hold?

And when I say what the future holds for us, how will we communicate in the future through various forms of mass communication. Because we already don’t use televisions like we once did. Now, our cell phones and laptops have replaced live television. It seems odd sometimes when I turnSpace Gray Iphone 6 on the television set. And you might ask yourselves, why all the T.V. talk? Well because the television has been the main source of how we get information out to the masses. But now that is rapidly going away and replacing itself with other forms of connecting to each other. But how will we use the communication?

Meaning, more and more, we will start to see augmented reality (AR). The computer generated graphics that were only in Hollywood movies, will now beach, grass, landscapebe of use to the populace. Seeing through the lens of Terminator and Robo Cop was seen as revolutionary in the 1980’s, and is coming to fruition through the creation of AR and VR (Virtual Reality). AR will be, in my opinion, better than VR. Because AR is existing in this real space with added forms of advancement. Like watching a movie from your AR headset in Central Park versus the VR, watching a movie wearing the headset at home, yet inside a theater in the virtual world.

Now, there are skeptics that feel that this form of technology will make us even more impersonal than we are now. I tend to disagree because we are more connected the more the technology advance. Pokemon Go proved how connected we are becoming. A game where people who were complete app, augmented reality, gamestrangers were connecting to each other to play the game. Other skeptics might see these advancements as a way to get in the way of daily activities. But, with the increase in innovation, people will become more active once you can incorporate the augmented world into your workout. Video games, such as first player shooter games will be all the rave. Just imagine, AR Call of Duty tournaments in Central Park.

In the end, we are reluctant to see what the future holds. You have people who are from an industrialized time period who see these advancements as a way to hurt jobs. But there is no stopping the technological advancements. You have to adjust and role with the punches. Because the change is inevitable, so get used to it. Time will always tick forward, as well as man with it. Adjust to the changes or be left behind.

FROM SCRATCH: HOW TO BUILD YOUR BRAND

Free stock photo of smartphone, connection, technology, blur

“Getting the right eyes at the right time.”

I have been building my social media since Summer of 2016. When I started, I had about 50 – 75 followers on Instagram, Twitter, and none on Facebook. Now my fan page on Facebook is 106, I have 159 followers on Twitter, and 370 Instagram. Now, you might want to ask, why so low? Why so few number of people following after continuous posting for the past year? Well, social media building takes time, and what I mean by time, I mean years. You can be building for five to seven years to generate a following for yourself. Even with my blog, I have started in 2015, I am just now making some decent traction.

Well, how are ways to build some type of audience. And what do I mean by audience, I mean pulling together a group of followers where they not only follow, but you influence their buying decisions. That is a very valuable Related imagesocial media following, when you can influence people’s buying decisions.
For example, people with 1 million followers on Twitter or Instagram can be paid for postings. Even at ten percent of the audience spending at least $100 per year, that’s Related image$10 million dollars. Imagine being able to make brands $10 million because you can influence a buying decision. Now imagine people with 10 million followers, or even the major celebrities with 50 – 100 million followers.

But as for me, with such a small community, I am always seeking ways to grow myself. My blog is probably getting the most traction at the moment. Last month I hit 1,000 views in a month. A feat that has taken me three years. And I am only making more head way now because I post at least one Related imageto three times per day. Now I would like to ask a question of you all. If any of you have built a pretty successful platform, how long did it take you? What was that or those things that kind of put you over the top? Because we all have something that does it for us. For me, that time has not come for me to be over the top.

Currently I am working on my Indiegogo campaign for my next short film, “Freedomless Speech.” And after I am finished with this, hopefully I can build my social media from videography projects. So with my videography, blogging, novels, and photography, should be able to build a nice community for myself. And in the end, that is the purpose. I would really like to see myself as one of these influencers cross my social media platforms. I am currently working in the Indie film landscape. And I have given myself a time frame to work in my field. 10 years from the start of my career pursuit. So by the time I turn 33/34 years of age which is three years, I want to already be in the industry working. I guess only time will tell.
